Abstract:   (1065 Views)
Type 1 diabetes(T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which autoantibodies against beta-cell antigens destroy these cells, thereby reducing insulin production and secretion. Genetic and environmental factors are risk factors for T1D. T1D often begins in childhood, causing physical and psychological complications in affected individuals and their families. Therefore, identifying people at risk for T1D is essential in preventing and reducing the complications of the disease. This study reviews the role of glycemic parameters, autoantibodies against beta-cell antigens, C-peptide, inflammatory biomarkers, and microRNAs in the diagnosis and prognosis of T1D.
