With considering the limitation of this assay such as Non-informative result due to false negative tests using the liquid biopsy might become routine in clinical practice and lead to identification of actionable mutations and subsequent targeted therapy. Despite tissue biopsy is considered as the gold standard technique for determination of molecular signatures of cancer cells, it has some major issues. It provides just a molecular snapshot from the certain location of an individual tumor whereas the liquid biopsy provides a general picture of all mutations in the primary and metastatic tumors. Moreover the liquid biopsy is fast and the only method that can be used in the patients with inappropriate performance status, inaccessible tumor location and those having a poor quality of specimens obtained by tissue biopsy.
