Today, promoting quality of life and paying more attention to nutrition and health are among the major issues of international debate and governments' strategies to improve people's quality of life in different societies. There have also been extensive studies to improve nutrition and its relationship with health. The pattern of food consumption is different in most countries, different social classes and cultures. Therefore, it is important to determine a useful and appropriate dietary pattern and promote food literacy. Since the importance of minerals in the body and dietary supplements is obvious to everyone, in this review, we discuss about the importance of calcium in the body and its mechanisms, in diet, the storage of calcium in bones, and related diseases. Various valid English databases were used for performing this study. Bone and Lumbar Disease are the most common pains that people get involved with and the most dangerous type is spinal pain and osteoporosis, which is more common in the elderly and symptoms worsen with age. Therefore, studies have suggested that dairy products consumption should be included in people diet. Consumption of dairy and other sources of calcium are more important in the elderly, women in pregnancy and lactation, and children.
